Back to the future of the African Village
This lecture addresses disrupting knowledge, challenging what we take for granted as “common” information shared by a vast amount of people and widely upheld as “fact”. It is about unlearning and reimagining ourselves and shifting our ontological landscapes, exploring other sources and avenues of knowledge. In global discourse, the African village typically occupies the position of underdevelopment and deprivation. ” This lecture will instead draw on the African village for spatial poetics that disrupt and expand how we think about futurism. It will incorporate elements of the African village such as the compound, the hut, and the river etc. into a language of critical, forward-oriented imagination.
