A collective rewriting of design history with publisher Onomatopee

As part of the “Resistance Stories of Design” workshop co-organized by publisher Onomatopee, curator Cecilia Casabona, and Futuress, five designers, researchers, and activists came together from March to May 2023 to rewrite design history. Weaving textual and audio-visual narratives rooted in their personal and collective memories, Iskander Guetta, Iany Gayo, Florencia Fontenla, Aditi Ruiz, and Napisa Leelasuphapong dove into the deeply political meanings of everyday artifacts, sharing their stories of resistance to extractivist practices, gendered violence, and the dichotomy of craft and design. Their texts have been published in a riso-printed zine titled “HistoricALL! A collective rewriting of design history” as part of the HistoricALL! project by Onomatopee and are available online on Futuress.
