First published on Futuress in February 2022, “A Critical Statement” calls out exclusive and extractivist structures within design education and asks: “will the solution to a design problem actually be not designing?” Sophie Thurner’s piece has now been translated into Korean and republished by the Seoul-based feminist community WOMAN OPEN TECH LAB! Their regularly published FEM TECH TALK zine broadens perspectives on technology and tech culture. The fourth issue focuses on “design” as the area, and activities intervening in lives and society under the theme of “Good Intent Behind.”
